他のバトルロイヤルゲームが現代的な戦争の雰囲気でリアル感が高いのに対して、Fortniteはポップさやユーモアを重視した雰囲気で、現実的にはありえなくても面白ければゲーム性を高めていくという姿勢を感じる。
特徴的なのは、マイクラフトのように集めた資材を使って、壁や屋根を建築して拠点を作ったり高い場所に登る足場を作ることができ、飛んだり跳ねたりするアイテムを使用して、発想次第で面白いプレイができる点が他の打ち合いだけのゲームとは一線を画する。
バグは多いが、運営が非常に優秀なので、将来的には今よりもさらに良いゲームになると期待できる。

雰囲気や、操作性はかなり違うが、実はスプラトゥーンとルールは似ているので任天堂ユーザーにも馴染みやすい。

LoLは月間プレイヤー人口が1億人を超えており、月間アクティブプレイヤー数で1位の人気ゲームだが、今までPCでしかプレイできなかった。（ちなみに2018年上半期時点でFortniteは家庭用ゲーム機では1位、総合順位では5位となっている）
LoLの開発元である米国Riot Gamesを買収した中国のTencentが今までLoLをプレイできなかった家庭用ゲーム機用として出したゲームがAoVです。
